These last few days I have spent at Pharmora have allowed me to experience their key values firsthand. When introduced to the team, I was immediately welcomed with friendly smiles and a pleasant atmosphere. As I learned more about the team, what really stood out to me was the huge range of backgrounds they had, with degrees in neuroscience to zoology to forensic analysis. This led me to hearing about the training implemented into the foundations of Pharmora. I learned that they invest greatly in their staff and have a mentoring system for newer members. This system showed to be very successful as I noticed that the team was comfortable working together and they were not afraid to ask each other questions. These qualities were really helpful throughout my experience. 

I was lucky to help with some of the work; I was taught how to analyse and cross check data for any adverse events that happened to a patient in a trial. I was further able to query any incorrect or missing data such as missing medications, dosage units, or incorrect dates. What shocked me the most about this work was the number of other levels that I did not analyse that also needed to be cleaned. This made me appreciate the significance of team work at Pharmora and solidified the need for this company.  

Continuing from this, I learned about narratives which use the cleaned data to write a summary of specific patients’ time in the trial. This interested me a lot as it felt like a story was being written, closing the gap between raw data and pharmacovigilance assessments for monitoring the safety of medicines. 

During this short time at Pharmora I have learned much about the work done here and have become more aware of this side of the pharmaceutical industry. I have really enjoyed this experience, thank you to everyone in the Pharmora team!
